3D Thursday - Happy Belated Birthday Deanna!

Here's what I need to work on: actually sending the cards that I make. I am notoriously bad about hoarding my precious precious creations. Friends have often advised me to make more than one of each, but do I heed their advice? Rarely.

This also causes me to be late every time I want to send a handmade card to a friend. I have to make it especially for them, so first I have to find the time to do that. Then I have to find and address the envelope. Ugh. We all know, that is the hardest part of sending anyone a card.

So, per my usual MO, I did not send my friend Deanna a birthday card on time last week. (Nor did I send one to Lydia or Julie yet, but that'll have to be another blog post.) Clearly, I needed to spend a few hours making a handmade gift. (crazy - I know, see Wednesday's post) Did I make more than one? Let's get serious here people.

Deanna tends to have an earthy style, so I tried to channel that when making this stationary set for her. I found the tutorial in the Resources section on www.splitcoaststampers.com. Above you can see the box closed, with the lid on.

To make the leaf I used the Leaves #2 die with my Big Shot and some Very Vanilla card stock. I got out my Spider Web embossing folder and used my brayer to ink it up with some Versamark ink. I ran the leaf through the Big Shot with the embossing folder, then sprinkled gold embossing powder all over it. The powder stuck just to the Versamarked area, so when I heat set it, it created a metallic leaf with  embossed veins. Love it!
An RSVP pen altered with some sparkly gold paper fits just perfectly.

A set of four full sized cards, three notecards with matching envelopes, three tags, and four gold-embossed envelopes complete the set along with a built in address book and postage stamp pocket.

I am in love with this new Two Step stamp set. It's called Gently Falling and is in the new Holiday Mini catalog that is released today!

Some embossed gold flourishes and a beautiful die cut label in Pool Party look regal on this card while some Basic Pearls dress it up. The embossed flourish on the envelope flap took another 30 seconds but elicited an "oooh" from Deanna. :)

  1. Hee hee, I feel famous :)

And, it's even lovelier in person! I showed James and he was flabbergasted. He kept asking things like if it was a kit you purchased and put together. I love it!
